Court Appointed Special Advocates - CASA

Court Appointed Special Advocates CASA volunteers are everyday people, trained by the CASA Program to support children and families involved in the child welfare system. Appointed by a Juvenile Court Judge, the CASA role is to advocate for the best interest of the child they serve.

Phone: 520-724-2060

They advocate for the child’s
mental, physical, and educational needs, serving as a consistent and trusted presence in a child’s life.

Volunteers spend about 15 hours a month on a case and stay by the child’s side throughout the duration of the case, working to ensure the child’s needs are met. CASA volunteers complete in-depth training provided by the CASA Program and receive
ongoing support and guidance from a CASA Coordinator.

The CASA volunteer models what a safe and nurturing relationship looks like for youth who are experiencing trauma caused by abuse, neglect, and removal and separation from family.
The Pima County CASA Program is the second CASA Program in the Nation, with 47 years of advocacy. Pima County has 200 dedicated CASA volunteers. 1,200 additional foster children in Pima County need a CASA volunteer on their side.
The Pima County CASA Program strives to increase the well-being of foster children and brings a unique level of dedication to the community.
